Work

Time to divulge more about my job. I am working at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as an administrative assistant. My office, the Graduates Studies Office (GSO) is on top of a hill. So I have to climb up a slope from the bus stop where I get down. By the time I reach the office, I am already sweating. LOL.

First week of work was lonely alone but luckily my colleagues were super nice. The person who hired me, Mui Gek, is SUPER nice. I had lunch with her and another temp. staff in the first week and I could actually chat with Mui Gek like as if she's my friend. :) She has a really cute laugh.

Before I started working on 6 Jan, my agent had called me and asked if any of my friends were interested as there was one more position. I immediately started asking around and my Orientation Group mate, Meiyi, was both available and interested. So we signed her up. Then during the first week of work, my agent called me again and said there is one more position. So this time I signed Jessica up.

Another one of the perm. staff, Doreen, had told me that Jess would be in the same section as another guy she had just hired. So I was like "Oooh, who is this mysterious new guy?" And on Sunday night, my friend Neeran messaged me and said that the new guy is her friend, Siddarth, whom I coincidentally kind of know since he is from the same college as me and is friends with my friend Shamira. What a small world!

So on 13 Jan, I met up with Meiyi, Jess and Sid at Jurong Point and took them to work with me and I no longer felt lonely any more. :D We eat lunch together, go to work together and usually go home together. I like our camaraderie! We also met a nice guy at work from Hwa Chong, who has finished his National Service and is waiting to start studying at NTU. He's called Tze Hao.

Meiyi and I are both in the Exam committee and have to keep doing different things throughout the day and get really tired sometimes while Jess and Sid are in another comm. and do the same thing the whole day, which can make them really bored and their butts sore from sitting down for too long. So there are pros and cons.

Meiyi and I keep laughing during work!! Hope we continue to be able to entertain each other this way. :D

That's all for now. Bye! :)

A Levels are OVER

It is almost unbelievable but yes, A levels are over. I doubt I would ace it but I am an optimistic person (usually) so I will work with whatever grades I have obtained and see where I can go and what I can do with that. Why cry over spilled milk right? Life's too short for that.

After the last paper, Chemistry mcq, the girls and I went to watch Catching Fire! It was AWESOME. It totally made the book come to life. It was super intense throughout and I loved the cast's acting. (even Liam's and I don't like him 'cus of the Miley thing) Sam Claflin is just SO cute and I LOVED the old woman who played Mag. She was so adorable and I wanted to cry when she walked into the fog. I didn't feel that upset at that part when I read the book but the actress playing Mag made me feel so bad for her D:

I love Peeta-Katniss, especially after realising that Jen and Josh are real life friends outside of the movies and are very affectionate towards each other (as can be seen during their interaction in interviews and they have been friends since young). Go PEETNISS. (I hope you didn't read that wrongly)

After the movie we gave Maal her birthday present, which is less fattening than a cake. We bought her The Book Thief. Hope she likes the book!! HAPPY BELATED 18TH MAAL. :)

Today, I went for my first job after A Levels. Can't reveal details 'cus it's a high-profile event, but I suppose I can reveal more details once it's over, which is tmr. :) All I can say for now is that it was an international symposium with high-fliers and even foreign delegates. Is that too much info alr? D: Hope not! Don't want to get into trouble xD HAHA.

The job is not demanding except for the fact that we have to stand for long periods of time. The pay is pretty good and we get to hang around VIPs and even talk to them ("This way, sir.") and pass them water bottles and I get to oogle at the good looking ones and we are provided with three meals so LEG PAIN can be TOLERATED.

I can't seem to write in proper English anymore :/ Will work on it, gimme some time. I am using short forms everywhere -.-

OK so I had to wake up at 4.45am this morning to go to work but luckily work starts at 8am tmr so I can afford to wake up at 6. PHEW.

The person in charge at work, Daisy, is really nice and I also made friends with two awesome JC peeps called Danelle and Jia Xing. (not sure if I spelt that write). It's quite fun when u have awesome colleagues to chit chat with. I even played shoot-shag-marry with Jia Xing and we used the foreign delegates. Since we can't remember their names we called them Singapore, Macau, Nevada, and Australia based on the country they are from. HAHA. (you can't blame us, we were bored) Danelle seriously resembles my sec school classmate Janice. :O

The tea provided to us was awesome - donuts, chocolate cupcakes, wanton dumplings, fruit punch and tea. Huge thumbs up. (Y)

ANYWAYS. After the job ended, I went to look for my prom dress and I think I found THE ONE. I have decided not to buy a long flowy gown just because the theme is Hollywood. If you think practically, what are the chances of me wearing a long flowy gown again anytime soon? Very low. Maybe the next time would be my wedding. LOL.

So I have decided to go for something simple and practical instead. :) Haven't bought it yet though. Will probably get it when I go shopping with Judy this coming Saturday. Super excited!! :D

Will use my own hard-earned money from this job to buy the dress, makes me even more happy :)

After checking out the dress I headed to JE library and borrowed a book called "How to make it to the Top" - 'cus I really need to know. Actually I could have gone to the library another day when my feet isn't aching so badly but I felt a strange pull. Maybe it was fated because while I was browsing the book sections, I heard an announcement saying that there would be a live musical performance at the 4th floor.

Now, I'm a music-lover and really like to support musicians so I immediately headed up to watch the performance. Omg, it was stupendous. Basically they were a group that does improvised performances. Any one of them would start playing any random tune off of the top of their heads and the others would join in at random places to either contradict or complement each other. They did about 5 random pieces like that and all of them left my jaw on the ground. Luckily no one stepped on it.

And at the end they did something I would never have expected, they announced that they would invite an audience member up on stage with them to play the percussion instrument (something which doesn't require experience) and do an improv with them. AND THEY PICKED ME 'cus I was sitting right in front. Luckily after seeing my horrified face they invited another random audience member to do it with me. xD

At first I was very nervous of course but then slowly I got used to it. Unfortunately I was concentrating so hard on thinking of my own improv beats that I didn't get to enjoy the whole group's piece as a whole. Wish someone had recorded it and sent it to me :( never mind~

Today was quite a perfect day in my opinion, better than any of the last three weeks of mugging. Hopefully things continue to work out this way :)

That's all for now, toodles~

Feelings are dumb

So I was reading Fifty Shades of Grey and I realised that minus the overly descriptive sex scenes, the plot is actually quite nice! *spoiler alert*

I was on the verge of tears when Anastasia was crying over Christian. Poor girl :( In love with a guy that wants to whip her for pleasure o.O *shudders* Someone said it's like Twilight. I beg to differ actually. This is much more easy to relate to because it's a human being and not a vampire!

I really want to know what Christian looks like! He sounds so hot in the book. :X I wonder if they will turn this into an R-rated movie next time. And I wonder if I will actually watch it...

Anyways, going for work tomorrow. I need all the luck I can get. xD

1st and 2nd day at work

First day at work:

Met Rennes outside JJC and we headed to Jurong East to take a train to Expo. My head was aching but I thought that it would be gone in a few hours time. Wendy thought that Rennes and I would be late but we arrived pretty much on time, thankfully. Upon arrival, I realised that I was overdressed.

Our boss Pat, asked us to have our lunch first before starting work. The good thing about this job is that the meals are all provided and the food is quite good. Like, they had rice with egg, chicken, vegetables etc for lunch and for dinner they had 3 different types of noodles! Rennes and I were both posted to the hat department so we started work by taking hats out of their packaging and hanging them on the racks. There were a lot of them!! We finished just nice at 10.30pm. And my head continued throbbing all the way. It was exhausting.

Originally my mom had asked me not to go for the job, and I was beginning to regret not listening to her.

2nd day at work:

On the second day, Wendy, Meiyi, Lapat and Sapol joined us for work. However, they shifted me to the scarves department. Standing for 12 hours straight is no joke. The soles of my feet were aching so bad I almost died. Every 3 hours I would take a toilet break just so that I could sit down and rest my feet. -.-

I was starting to get grumpy too. I have never folded so many clothes in my 18 years of life before.  When I worked at Sheng Siong and after working here, I realised the importance of studying. Because if I don't do well for my A Levels, I'm going to have to do such jobs and I swear I will hate my life.

I guess the experience itself would have been cooler if so much physical pain wasn't involved. I'm not the only one who complained of aching bodies, I think everyone was. The best part was when I met really nice people like Angel, Javier and Stephanie from the scarf department. Angel and Javier are classmates and they are currently in the midst of their O levels. It would be so cool if they actually come to Jurong JC next time :D Steph is currently in ITE.

The scarf department got scolded at the end of the night for slacking and talking too much. I have a point to make: Yes, we should get scolded for slacking. But as for the talking, if we kept silent our throbbing legs would make us feel horrible. By chit chatting we were able to distract ourselves from the misery. And anyways when you make new friends you are bound to chat a bit.

I arrived at JP with Meiyi at 12.30. There were no more buses I could take home. I would have had to take a taxi if Meiyi's uncle didn't drive me home. So thankful to Meiyi and her uncle, aunt and dad for sending me all the way to the bus stop nearest to my house.

Another lesson learned: When I grow up, I must buy a car as soon as possible.

3rd day at work:

Today's the third day and I didn't go. I was too tired, and my feet were aching like *insert vulgarity* So I went to the doctor's to get an MC. I'm going to work tomorrow. And tomorrow I am going to be more optimistic because it's the last day. I am going to entertain every single customer that comes my way. I am not going to slack or chit chat with my new friends. I am not going to grumble even if I have to fold the scarves a thousand times. I will be initiative. Oh, and at the end of the day I must get Angel, Javier and Steph's Facebooks. I can't afford to lose touch with such nice people.

Ps. My doctor had bulging muscles...how distracting. :/

Holiday Job Hunting and Oral Presentation

On Tuesday, I went job hunting with Wendy and her classmates Meiyi, Rennes, Lapat and Lapat's bro Po. Actually It's ___po but I can't remember what's in front. OOps.

All of them are such nice people so I didn't feel awkward at all. And I already know Meiyi because she was in my orientation group and Rennes was from drama. :) We talked about funny stuff on the MRT on the way to Tai Seng. Teased Rennes about An, asked Rennes who her actual crush is (she didn't say), talked about scary movies such as PA4, The Shining, Looper etc.

And we all got the job. Hooray! :D Can't reveal too much details because we signed one of those confidentiality forms. However, I can reveal that we are working for Winter Time.

Will be working there tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Will blog about my experiences on Monday after school :)

Had my Oral Presentation today! We have rehearsed a lot of times but even an hour before the actual thing, our nerves were getting the better of us. I was stumbling, stuttering and fumbling while practicing. On the brighter side, the actual one went way smoother. However, I think I may have talked too fast.

Now, I have some complaining to do. When we were the audience for the other two groups, I don't know about my other team mates but I know that Steph and I were giving encouraging nods and giving them small smiles. And after each speaker was done, my group would clap for them. But when it was our turn, they didn't even bother to. And no encouraging nod whatsoever. Seriously?

I & R submission is this Friday and after that, it's all over!! One of the highlights of a JC student's life. The end of PW. Haha, shall go and sleep now. Nights :)
